World Cup biking – what we know now

How do I ride to KC Stadium (aka Arrowhead)?

From the West
Bike to the intersection of Stadium Drive and the Blue River Trail. The City of KCMO has created a map and will provide monitored bike racks and a shuttle to the stadium. The trailhead will be monitored from two hours before the game until an hour after the game. There are two options to get there:

1.Take the trail on Cleaver Boulevard to the bike lanes on Leeds Trafficway, or

2.Take the Brush Creek Trail east from the Country Club Plaza and then go north on the Blue River Trail to Stadium Drive
Tip: If coming from Downtown, Fan Fest, or Westport areas, use the cycletrack on Oak Street/Gillham Road to get to the Brush Creek Trail just east of the Country Club Plaza area.

From the East or South
Take the Rock Island Trail. Designated bike parking is located at the terminus of the Rock Island Trail near Gate 3, off Blue Ridge Cutoff.

The Regional Trails and Bikeways Map is our favorite resource for finding bike lanes/trails that you would never notice from a car, and often aren't even on Google Maps. This is a great way to plan your route, whether you are riding the Rock Island Trail from the east or the Brush Creek route from the west.

Is there bike parking at the stadium?

Our understanding is that the Rock Island Trailhead in Parking Lot L, Gate 3 is the designated bike parking location for people who have tickets to a World Cup match.

If you are biking in from the west, consider locking up your bike at the City of KCMO bike racks at the terminus of the Blue River Trail and taking the shuttle to the stadium.

Note: Bike Share KC riders are welcome to lock up and end their trips at either bike parking area! However, neither the Blue River Trail parking area nor the Rock Island Trail parking area are official Bike Share KC hubs, and BSKC riders who lock up and end their trips at either location will be charged a $2 out-of-hub convenience fee.

Can I ride bike share to a World Cup match?

YES! Here are some things to keep in mind:

Bike share means that if you end your trip and lock up, that bike is available for someone else to check out and ride. The only way to keep a bike for only your personal use is to lock up and leave the meter running (do not end your trip). Read the Frequently Asked Questions

Our bikes are electric-assist, which makes them easy to pedal when they have a full charge, but hard to pedal if the battery runs out. Check the Bike Share KC app to confirm the bike you want to ride has a full battery before checking it out.

Cell phone service may be spotty with so many people in one place. During especially busy times, you may need to wait for crowds to disperse before you can unlock a bike. See more World Cup Party Pedaling tips here.

⚡ Overland Park has the power! ⚡

How to use Bike Share KC in Overland Park

When you check out a bike in Overland Park, you can ride it all over the metro as long as you park it within our service area (boundaries can be found in the Bike Share KC app). That means you can ride from OP to the Plaza, Lenexa, or even across the river into North Kansas City!

People who work on the Aspiria Campus will also be happy to know that thanks to this new partnership, you can now ride off campus and end your trip elsewhere in Overland Park.

Where to park:

In Overland Park (just like KCMO, KCK, and North Kansas City), you may lock up and end your trip for free at official Bike Share KC hubs.

For a $2 out-of-hub convenience fee, riders may lock up nearly anywhere within the service area as long as the bikes remain available to other users and do not inhibit anyone else’s mobility.

👍 Please park and lock up at designated Bike Share KC hubs or at publicly-available bike racks. Riders may also lock up and end their trip at a street sign or pole as long as the bike doesn’t block a sidewalk, doorway, staircase, ramp, or other access point.

👎 Please do not lock up bikes to transit stops, fences, handrails, short poles, trees, or private bike racks that are not available for use by the general public. Users may incur a fine for parking a bike without ending their trip or using the cable lock, or for parking a bike in a manner that blocks an access point.

As for maps, we 💖 the MARC Greater Kansas City Regional Trails & Bikeways Map. It's available online in a searchable, interactive version or as a printable PDF. You can also request a physical map be mailed to you, or pick one up at your local bike shop! This map has trails and bike paths that you'll never see while you're driving by in a car, and can help you connect the dots all across the metro.

P.S. Did you know you can ride an off-street trail from 87th all the way to College Blvd, where it connects to a bike lane? The same trail connects to the Indian Creek Trail, which connects to another "secret" walk/bike path on Nall, which connects to the Town Center Trail, the Tomahawk Creek Trail... and we could go on, but you should see it for yourself!

Choose layers like shared use paths and separated (protected) bike lanes to map a route that you feel comfortable and safe riding. World Cup party pedaling with Bike Share KC

Are you attending a World Cup match or fan event this summer? Or maybe you're just navigating a city buzzing with soccer fans. Here are some tips for riding bike share to big events:

1. Plan ahead

Decide what route you will ride ahead of time. (Google Maps isn't always up-to-date, so we suggest the Regional Trails and Bikeways map! It's available online, and you can pick up a print copy in many area bike shops or request one be mailed to you) Park your car outside the busy area, using your Bike Share KC app to choose an area with plenty of bikes available. We recommend using a credit card instead of a debit card if possible, to avoid tying up your funds.

2. Park and lock up

Use the Bike Share KC app to find an official parking hub, or for a $2 fee, lock up at a publicly-available bike rack, street sign, or other fixed object. Do not lock the bike to a bus stop or street car stop, tree, handrail, or private property, and make sure you aren't blocking a sidewalk, stairway, or doorway.

3. Don't panic

Cell phone service may be spotty with so many people in one place. During especially busy times, you may need to wait for crowds to disperse before you can unlock a bike.

We opened two new bike share hubs in November: one at Nutter Ivanhoe Neighborhood Center at 37th and Woodland, and one at the entrance to Maple Park on Lexington Avenue in Pendleton Heights. Here's what the neighborhood leaders said:

Telemundo KC introduced our new bike-sharing app in Spanish! Thanks to KCMO Council Member Crispin Rea Jr. for inviting us to local events to showcase the app to community members, and thanks to Better Bike Share Partnership for funding this project to create the Spanish version of the app.

Hibernation season

All Lenexa and Aspiria bikes, and a portion of the Kansas City, KS fleet will be out of service starting December 1. Each winter, the bikes in these fleets get a full tune-up over the winter months to prepare them for the busy spring biking season. In accordance with Bike Share KC’s agreements with our partners, the fleets will be hibernating from December until March. Bikes in the KCMO and North Kansas City fleets get their full tune-ups throughout the year.

New Bike Share Hubs Coming to Kansas City Neighborhoods

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kansas City, MO (November 18, 2025) – Bike Share KC is expanding access to sustainable transportation with the opening of new bike share hubs in two Kansas City neighborhoods: Ivanhoe and Pendleton Heights.

Both hubs will open to the public on November 19, featuring brand-new electric bikes available for residents and visitors. The new stations will increase transportation and recreation options while strengthening connectivity for Kansas City’s east side neighborhoods.

The Ivanhoe hub will be located at 3644 Woodland Ave, directly across the street from the Nutter Ivanhoe Neighborhood Center. The Pendleton Heights hub will be located at the entrance to Maple Park, adjacent to the soccer fields.

Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council’s Executive Director Alana Henry explains the impact of a new bike hub in Ivanhoe, stating,

“In the community I serve, accessible and affordable transportation options can be a challenge for many individuals and their families. We are ecstatic to offer an additional resource onsite at our campus that addresses a key need for our community members. Partnership with BikeWalkKC on this important initiative to increase mobility and bike access will undoubtedly have a significant positive impact on the more than 6000 households in Ivanhoe.”

Jonathan Cokely, President of the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association also shared his enthusiasm for the bike hub installation.

“Pendleton Heights is really excited to welcome the new Maple Park Bike Share Hub. This project will provide additional mobility access to our neighbors, encourage residents to enjoy the urban oasis of Cliff Drive, allow for joyful rides to KC Current matches, and bring positive programming to our parks.
